This is a useful place if you are not from ipswich and you need a bit of local info. The only problem is that it is a bit off the beaten track, or main road and could be hard to find for visitors to the town. But if you have parked at the butter market then you will be ok as it is right near the entrance, by the church. If you need directions and a map of the area then it is worth a visit. The place has a selection of leaflets etc, which detail whats going on and where and also name popular local attractions you can visit. Places worth a visit would be the museums etc as they are good for the whole family to spend some time together. Have been in on ocassion to see if there are any days out leaflets.

The Ipswich tourist information centre is a really helpful resource for visitors to Ipswich as well as to residents who are looking for information on things to do in Ipswich and in surrounding Suffolk. The tourist information centre is located near the centre of town and right near the main bus station called Old Cattle Market, which is where buses arrive from out of town. It is located in an old church which is charming. I would recommend the centre for maps of the city and surrounding areas as well as for general information - the staff are really helpful and can generally tell you the answer to any question you have, or can point you in the right direction if they don't know!!

  • 5 worth a visit

The tourist information centre is situated near the front of the Buttermarket centre and the back of BHS. Its in an old church which gives it a welcoming and interesting atmosphere. Here you will find not only information about Ipswich and Suffolk but also other parts of the country. There is also a very good gift section which is extremely useful at Christmas. They also often have exhibitions of art which are worth seeing. At Christmas they sell charity christmas cards so do visit then to ensure your Christmas buying also helps others. The tourist ind=formation centre is also the place to buy tickets for boat trips on the Orwell and for walking tours of Ipswich. You will find the staff helpful and polite.
