We live near by but this was our first visit, warm friendly welcome.Drinking bar at front and trendy but cosy restaurant out back, looking onto beer garden and duck pond. For dinner we ordered kiddies meal, fish and chips and peas, fresh fish with homemade batter, lovely chips, tasted like mum used to make!!!I had Steak and Ale Pie and chips, pastry about 4 inches high and lovely tender steak, seemed like a lb in meat.Missus had veggie bake and salad,NOT biggest bake but very tasty with lots of fresh salad. She finished with choccy pud with choccy sauce, very nice.Generally a very nice meal, will now be our regular.....A big bonus is they cook ALL DAY,SO WHEN YOU HAVE HAD A LONG DRIVE,STOP AND HAVE A GREAT MEAL.
On a short weekend visit to Suffolk, we were looking for somewhere to stop for lunch when we came across the Magpie Inn, in the village of Little Stonham. You can't miss this place - just before you arrive at the pub you will see a large metal magpie suspended over the road. So when you see this, slow up and pull into the car park. This is a traditional looking, cosy pub, with a small bar area and a larger eating area which is non-smoking, making it the perfect place for a mid-trip lunch break if you ask me!We both had the Haddock & Chips and it was delicious....particularly the chips ; )
